JESSIE USHER

Date of Birth: February 29, 1992

A native of Maryland and a leap year child, Jessie Usher was an exceptional student in both elementary and high school. He was a top honor student and graduated from high school as his class' salutatorian.

Following high school, he carried his academic success on to college where he made the Dean's List as a student in the Art of Culinary program. While at college, he was also a member of Alpha Gamma Honor Society.

When Jessie's family moved to Los Angeles in 2003, he discovered a passion for acting that he was able to explore in 2005 when he won a guest-starring role on the TV series Without A Trace.

Two years later, he added a small role on the series Hannah Montana to his resumé.

In 2008, Jessie earned more small roles, this time on the series Lincoln Heights and Numb3rs.

He played a character named Daniel in his next two projects, appearing in episodes of The Mentalist and Criminal Minds.

Jessie made his feature film debut in 2011 with the drama Beautiful Boy, about a married couple grappling with news that their son committed a mass shooting at his school before taking his own life. Michael Sheen and Maria Bello starred in the movie.

Although Beautiful Boy was his first movie, Jessie's first big break came with the 2011 Cartoon Network TV movie Level Up, playing Lyle Hugginson. He reprised the role for two seasons when the movie was developed into a series that aired from 2012 to 2013.

In 2013, Jessie returned to film with InAPPropriate Comedy, which starred Lindsay Lohan, Adrien Brody, Michelle Rodriguez and Rob Schneider.

He lent his talents to the documentary Teenage in 2013 and acted in the 2014 football film When the Game Stands Tall with Jim Caviezel, Alexander Ludwig and Michael Chiklis.

From 2014 to 2015, Jessie starred in the Lebron James-produced Starz TV series Survivor's Remorse, portraying Cam Calloway, a basketball player who turns pro and moves with his family to Atlanta.

In 2016, Jessie experienced wide exposure, playing a central part in Independence Day: Resurgence, as the son of Will Smith's character from the original 1996 film. Jessie was the first actor to be cast in the big budget picture. That same year, he also appeared in the festive ensemble comedy Almost Christmas along with Gabrielle Union, Danny Glover, Omar Epps and Mo'Nique.

In 2017, Jessie is expected to star in the drama Stronghold, which he'll also reportedly help produce.

Jessie has one older sister, whom he says inspired him to pursue acting.
